Environmental Toxicology and Risk Assessment for Water Re-Use - The aim of this course is to introduce the fundamentals of environmental toxicology and how the information can be used in health risk assessment. Environmental toxicology involves assessing the exposure and effects of natural and synthetic chemicals in the environment on living organisms (including humans) as well as whole communities or entire ecosystems. The approaches used are founded on the elementary medical and toxicological principles based on exposure and effect. Advanced and emerging methods will also be included with particular reference to water re-use and the setting of water quality standards.
